Mercedes-Benz India has confirmed that the GLC Electric will launch in India on November 4, 2026. The launch will take place ahead of the Diwali festive season, while bookings are expected to begin in the first week of October.
The electric SUV will be locally assembled at Mercedes-Benz’s Chakan plant in Pune. India will initially get the standard-wheelbase GLC 400 4MATIC version.
GLC Electric To Arrive In India As A Locally Assembled Model
Mercedes-Benz says the GLC Electric will be its fastest global model to reach India as a locally assembled vehicle. The SUV is expected to arrive around six months after sales began in Europe.
The company already sells the electric GLC in international markets. China also gets a long-wheelbase version, but India will initially receive the standard-wheelbase model.
Dimensions And Practicality
The electric GLC has a 2,972 mm wheelbase. This is 84 mm longer than the petrol-powered GLC, helped by its dedicated electric vehicle architecture.

The SUV offers 570 litres of boot space. This increases to 1,740 litres when the rear seats are folded. It also gets an additional 128 litres of storage space.
Inside, the SUV combines physical controls with digital displays. It features a 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen that integrates the instrument cluster, central infotainment display and front passenger screen.
GLC 400 4MATIC Electric Gets 483-489 Bhp
The GLC 400 4MATIC Electric uses a 94 kWh NMC battery pack. Two electric motors provide all-wheel drive, with combined output of around 483-489 bhp and 800 Nm of torque.
Mercedes-Benz claims a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 4.3 seconds. The SUV has a claimed top speed of 210 kmph and a WLTP-certified range of up to 715 km. The electric SUV also supports DC fast charging at up to 330 kW. Rear-axle steering is offered as standard to help with agility and parking.
Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Rivals
With local assembly, a claimed range of up to 715 km and strong performance, the GLC Electric will enter India’s premium electric SUV segment.
The model is expected to compete with electric SUVs such as the BMW iX3 and Audi Q6 e-tron. More details about the India-spec model are expected as Mercedes-Benz prepares for its November 4 launch.
