Subheadline: The updated adventure motorcycle gets a more powerful 1,160 cc engine, advanced rider assistance features and revised suspension, with India sales set to begin in March 2027.
Triumph has unveiled the 2027 Tiger 1200 with major updates to its engine, safety technology and suspension. The flagship adventure tourer will reach India in two variants, the GT Pro and Rally Explorer, with sales scheduled to begin in March 2027.
The updated model brings radar-based rider assistance and a suspension system that lowers the motorcycle when stationary. These changes strengthen its position against rivals such as the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure.
New Triumph Tiger 1200: Engine
The 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 uses a 1,160 cc liquid-cooled, three-cylinder engine. It produces 156 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. This represents an increase of 7 bhp over the outgoing model, while peak torque arrives earlier in the rev range.
Triumph has revised the cylinder head, pistons, exhaust and fuel injection system. The engine also gets lighter intake and exhaust valves. The first three gear ratios have changed, while the six-speed gearbox and shaft drive have received further updates.
New Triumph Tiger 1200: Radar Tech
The biggest technology upgrade is the new front and rear radar system. It supports adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, emergency brake assist, blind-spot assist and group ride assist. These features aim to improve rider awareness and safety during long journeys.
All variants also receive a 7-inch TFT touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The added connectivity and rider assistance features make the motorcycle better equipped for long-distance touring.
New Triumph Tiger 1200: Hardware
The updated Tiger 1200 uses a 49 mm Showa upside-down front fork and a rear monoshock. Both offer 200 mm of suspension travel. Its semi-active suspension adjusts compression and rebound damping using data from a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) and other sensors. The system also adjusts preload automatically.

One of the most practical additions is the self-lowering suspension function. It lowers the motorcycle by 30 mm when stationary, making it easier to manage at traffic lights and on uneven ground. With the optional low seat, the seat height drops to 790 mm. Braking duties are handled by twin 320 mm front discs with Brembo Stylema callipers and a 282 mm rear disc.
New Triumph Tiger 1200: GT and Rally Differences
The overall design remains familiar, but Triumph has revised the fuel tank, radiator cowls, front beak and windscreen. Both versions use a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel. The GT models get cast aluminium wheels, while Rally versions feature spoked wheels.
The GT Pro weighs 250 kg in running condition, while the Rally Explorer weighs 268 kg. The Pro variants get a 20-litre fuel tank, whereas Explorer versions offer a larger 30-litre tank. Explorer models also receive tyre-pressure monitoring, lower engine bars and wider, higher handlebars. Heated seats for the rider and pillion, along with three-stage heated grips, are standard.
Triumph has not announced the Indian prices of the 2027 Tiger 1200. Pricing is expected to be revealed closer to the start of bookings, while sales are scheduled to begin in March 2027.
