Volkswagen has removed the premium SUV from its official website, leaving the Taigun and Tayron as its listed SUV models in India.

Volkswagen has removed the Tiguan R-Line from its official India website. The move suggests that the premium mid-size SUV may have been discontinued in the Indian market. However, the company has not issued any formal statement about the development.

The Tiguan R-Line was launched in India in April 2025. It arrived as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and was priced at Rs 47.11 lakh (ex-showroom). It was also Volkswagen’s flagship SUV offering in the country.

Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line: Engine and Features

The Tiguan R-Line was a five-seater premium SUV. It used a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 201 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine was paired with a seven-speed DSG gearbox. Volkswagen also offered its 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system as standard.

The SUV was sold in a single, fully loaded variant. It was positioned as a sportier and more premium alternative to the standard Tiguan previously sold in India.

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line and Tayron Life

With the Tiguan R-Line no longer listed, the Tayron R-Line remains Volkswagen’s premium SUV option. It is slightly larger and offers three-row seating.

The Tayron R-Line is priced at Rs 47.74 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the Tiguan R-Line, it is locally assembled through the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route at Volkswagen’s facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Volkswagen also offers the Tayron Life, a five-seater version of the SUV. It provides more second-row space and a larger boot. The Tayron Life is priced at Rs 41.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen’s SUV Line-up in India

Following the Tiguan R-Line’s removal, Volkswagen India’s website lists two SUV models: the Taigun and the Tayron. The Taigun serves buyers looking for a more affordable SUV. The Tayron targets customers seeking a larger, more premium model with additional space, features and technology.

Volkswagen has not yet announced the Tiguan R-Line’s official discontinuation. Its removal from the website is the latest indication of a change in the company’s Indian SUV line-up.
