The new 350cc retro roadster gets a 29 hp engine, twin-shock suspension and a 14.5-litre fuel tank.

Triumph has launched the Bonneville T40 in India at Rs 2.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The new motorcycle expands Triumph’s India-made 350cc range and brings the classic Bonneville design to a lower-capacity segment. Bookings for the motorcycle are now open. Deliveries of the T40 are scheduled to begin in November 2026.

Triumph Bonneville T40 Engine

The Bonneville T40 uses a 350cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It produces 29 hp at 7,000 rpm and 31.2 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Triumph has revised the engine for the T40. Changes include a revised cylinder head, dedicated camshafts and smaller throttle bodies.

The motorcycle also gets a new peashooter-style exhaust. A six-speed gearbox is standard, with taller overall gearing than other Triumph 350cc models.

New Frame and Twin-Shock Suspension

The Bonneville T40 uses a new rear frame section to create its traditional Bonneville appearance. The rear setup includes twin shock absorbers and a tubular steel swingarm. The subframe is welded to the main frame. This differs from other models in Triumph’s 350cc range.

Suspension duties are handled by a 43mm gaitered telescopic fork at the front. Twin rear shocks are used at the back. Both ends offer 130mm of suspension travel. Braking comes from a 310mm front disc with a twin-piston axial caliper. The rear uses a 255mm disc with a single-piston caliper.

The motorcycle also gets lean-sensitive ABS and traction control. Wire-spoke wheels are fitted with tubed MRF tyres. The front tyre measures 100/90-18, while the rear tyre measures 150/70-R18. A centre stand is offered as standard.

T40 Dimensions and Weight

At 195kg, the Bonneville T40 is the heaviest Bajaj-built Triumph in the 350cc family. It also gets the largest fuel tank among the models in the range.

The fuel tank has a capacity of 14.5 litres. The motorcycle has a seat height of 790mm, while an optional low seat reduces it to 770mm. Ground clearance stands at 165mm. The figure provides useful clearance for Indian road conditions.

Features and Technology

Despite its retro styling, the Bonneville T40 gets a modern 4-inch colour TFT display. The round unit is designed to match the motorcycle’s classic appearance. The motorcycle offers five riding modes. These include Road, Rain, Eco and two customisable modes.

Other electronic features include ABS, traction control and cruise control. A Heritage display mode gives the instrument screen a more traditional appearance. Riders can also pair their phone through the Triumph Navigation app. This enables navigation information to appear on the motorcycle’s display.

Triumph Bonneville T40 Price and Rivals

The Bonneville T40 is priced at Rs 2.80 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. It sits above motorcycles such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda CB350 and Jawa 350 in terms of price.

The motorcycle combines a 350cc engine with classic styling and modern electronic features. Its 14.5-litre fuel tank and 790mm seat height also add to its touring-focused specification.

Triumph has confirmed that T40 deliveries will begin in November 2026. The company has also announced the T4, with deliveries scheduled from the second week of January 2027.
