The upcoming JSW Combat is expected to feature a rugged design, a technology-rich cabin and four-wheel-drive capability as it prepares to rival the Toyota Fortuner.
JSW is preparing to enter India’s SUV market with the Combat, a model expected to be based on the international-spec Jetour T2. The upcoming SUV is expected to target buyers looking for a large vehicle with rugged styling, modern features and off-road capability. It could compete with the Toyota Fortuner and other premium SUVs in the Indian market.
JSW has not yet confirmed the Combat’s full specifications, powertrain options or launch price. However, details of the global Jetour T2 offer an early look at what the India-bound SUV could bring.
JSW Combat SUV – Rugged Design and Road Presence
The JSW Combat is expected to feature an upright, boxy design inspired by the Jetour T2. Its rugged styling and large dimensions could help it stand out in the premium SUV segment. The vehicle is expected to target buyers who prefer a strong road presence and an adventure-focused design.
The global-spec Jetour T2 measures 4,785 mm in length, 2,002 mm in width and 1,880 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. Based on these dimensions, the Combat could be longer and wider than the Toyota Fortuner, although the final Indian model’s measurements remain unconfirmed.
JSW Combat SUV – Technology-Rich Cabin
The upcoming SUV could offer a feature-rich cabin if JSW retains the Jetour T2’s international equipment. The global model comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment unit uses a Snapdragon processor, while the audio system is supplied by Sony.
Other available features on the Jetour T2 include a wireless smartphone charger, multi-colour ambient lighting and a surround-view camera. The global model also offers multiple airbags, electronic stability control (ESP), advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and powered, ventilated front seats. JSW has not confirmed which of these features will be available on the Combat in India.
JSW Combat SUV – Four-Wheel-Drive Capability
The Jetour T2 offers several features designed for off-road driving. Depending on the variant, it provides up to 220 mm of ground clearance, a 28-degree approach angle and a 30-degree departure angle. The manufacturer also claims a water-wading capacity of up to 700 mm.

Selected versions offer terrain modes, hill descent control and electronic traction management as part of their four-wheel-drive system. These features could make the Combat suitable for buyers who need more than regular road-going capability, subject to the final Indian specifications.
One important difference could be the chassis design. The Jetour T2 uses a monocoque structure, while the Toyota Fortuner is built on a ladder-frame chassis. This distinction may matter to buyers comparing the two SUVs for their intended driving needs.
JSW Combat SUV – Expected Powertrain Options
The international Jetour T2 is available with different powertrain options across markets. These include a plug-in hybrid system combining a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with electric motors. Another option is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces up to 254 hp and 390 Nm of torque.
Depending on the market, the 2.0-litre engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission or an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Four-wheel-drive versions use an electronically controlled system to distribute torque between the front and rear axles.
JSW could consider one of these existing powertrain options for the Combat. However, the company has not confirmed the engine, transmission or hybrid configuration planned for India.
JSW Combat SUV – Expected Price in India
The JSW Combat is expected to be priced at around Rs 29 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level version. Higher-spec variants could cost around Rs 37 lakh (ex-showroom), based on current expectations. These prices have not been confirmed by JSW.
At this expected price range, the SUV could sit between the Mahindra Scorpio-N and the Toyota Fortuner. Its final positioning will depend on the features, engine options and four-wheel-drive equipment offered in India.
JSW is yet to announce the Combat’s official launch date, prices and complete specifications. More details will be needed to establish how the upcoming SUV will compare with its rivals in the Indian market.
