JSW Motors’ upcoming premium SUV has been spotted in its older design in India, raising questions about whether the updated model will arrive here.
Jetour has revealed an updated version of the T2 SUV in international markets, while JSW Motors is preparing to introduce a T2-based model in India. Test vehicles spotted in the country so far appear to feature the pre-facelift design. However, a possible delay in the Indian launch until early 2027 could give the company more time to consider the updated version.
The facelifted SUV, known as the Traveller 7 in China, has received exterior and interior changes. Its revised design includes round headlamps, a full-width LED light strip and an updated cabin. JSW Motors has not confirmed which version it plans to launch in India.
Jetour T2 Facelift: What Has Changed?
The most noticeable changes to the updated T2 appear at the front. The earlier rectangular headlamps have been replaced by circular units, while a full-width LED light strip runs across the grille. The Jetour lettering has also moved to the bonnet.
The front bumper now has a body-coloured finish. The updated model also removes the additional off-road-style lights and tow hooks found on the outgoing version.
At the rear, the changes include a revised bumper, spoiler and spare wheel cover. The vertical tail-lamps remain, preserving the SUV’s familiar boxy shape.
Updated Cabin Gets New Features
The facelifted T2 also receives several interior changes. These include a redesigned dashboard, new air vents, a revised steering wheel and updated upholstery.
Higher variants are listed with powered seats that offer a massage function. Other available features include a 23-speaker audio system and multi-colour ambient lighting.
These changes update the SUV’s cabin while adding more comfort and entertainment features. However, it remains unclear which of these features, if any, will be offered in the India-spec model.
Will India Get the Old or Updated Jetour T2?
Test vehicles spotted in India so far appear to use the outgoing T2 design. These vehicles feature rectangular LED headlamps, chunky bumpers and black cladding around the wheel arches.
The India-bound SUV is expected to carry a JSW badge instead of Jetour branding. Earlier reports have also indicated that JSW Motors plans to assemble the vehicle locally.
The company had previously planned to launch its first SUV in India during 2026. More recent reports point to an early 2027 debut, although an official launch date has not been announced.
This revised timeline could give JSW Motors an opportunity to consider the facelifted version. However, the company has not confirmed any decision to bring the updated design to India. The test vehicles seen so far do not establish which version will reach showrooms.
Expected Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain
The India-spec SUV is expected to use a plug-in hybrid powertrain. This type of vehicle combines a combustion engine with an electric motor and a rechargeable battery.
The outgoing international Jetour T2 i-DM combines a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 26.7kWh battery and two electric motors. The supplied specifications list a combined output of 381bhp and 610Nm of torque.
These figures relate to the international version and should not be treated as confirmed specifications for the Indian model. JSW Motors has yet to announce the final powertrain details for its SUV.
JSW Motors’ First SUV for India
The T2-based SUV will be the first product from JSW Motors’ independent passenger vehicle business. The company is expected to assemble it in Maharashtra and position it as a premium SUV.
The final name, price, features and specifications remain unannounced. These details will be important for buyers comparing it with other premium SUVs in India.
What Happens Next?
The facelifted Jetour T2 is now available in its home market, while JSW Motors continues to prepare its India-bound model. An early 2027 launch has been reported, but the company has not officially confirmed the date.
For Indian buyers, the key question is whether JSW Motors will launch the older design or adopt the updated version. An official announcement will be needed to confirm the final design, powertrain, pricing and launch schedule.
