Raymond Group chairman questions Maserati’s return to India, claiming his unresolved issue with the luxury carmaker remains unanswered.
Raymond Group Chairman and Managing Director Gautam Singhania has criticised Maserati on Instagram during the brand’s latest product launches in India. He urged potential buyers to think twice before purchasing its cars, claiming that his unresolved issue with the company still has no answer.
The comments came on October 30, when Maserati introduced its updated Indian line-up. The launch included the refreshed Grecale, GranTurismo and GranCabrio, alongside the new GT2 Stradale and MCPura. The event also marked the opening of the brand’s new Mumbai dealership with Navnit Motors.
Gautam Singhania Criticises Maserati
Sharing a video related to the MC20, Singhania expressed his disappointment with the Italian luxury carmaker. His Instagram caption read, “Maserati is relaunching in India. Think twice before buying. My issue still says unresolved as they have no answer to it!” He further added, “Can’t believe they are back to cheat indian customers!”
However, Singhania’s post does not explain the exact nature of his complaint. It also does not identify the vehicle involved or provide details of his communication with Maserati. The accompanying video features a presenter reviewing the Maserati MC20. Singhania also owned the same supercar.
Maserati MC20’s Ride Quality Criticised
In the video, the presenter questions the MC20’s ride quality during a drive in GT mode. He mentions the car’s Bilstein DampTronic X suspension system and describes its performance negatively.
He says the ride quality is extremely uncomfortable, even with the dampers set to their softest setting. The presenter also questions how some British road testers had praised the car’s ride.

He further describes the vehicle as unsettled on a relatively smooth section of road. The movement was significant enough to raise concerns about the camera equipment mounted on the car. Switching to Sport mode does not improve his assessment. Instead, he describes the ride as firmer and more jittery.
These comments reflect the presenter’s experience with the particular MC20 featured in the video. They do not establish a general problem across Maserati’s entire vehicle range.
Maserati Expands Its Presence In India
Singhania’s criticism comes as Maserati works to strengthen its presence in the Indian luxury car market. The brand recently introduced several updated models and expanded its dealership network.
Its new Mumbai showroom is the company’s third flagship dealership in India. The other two are located in Delhi and Bengaluru. However, Maserati’s response to Singhania’s allegations is not included in the available information. Details of the unresolved complaint also remain unclear.
Gautam Singhania’s Car Collection
Gautam Singhania is a well-known car enthusiast with an extensive collection of expensive sports cars. His collection includes models such as the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren Senna, McLaren 720S, Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari 296 Speciale.
His latest comments have brought attention to his unresolved issue with Maserati during the company’s return to the Indian market. The details of the complaint and Maserati’s response remain the key unanswered points.
