BMW 5 Series LWB Updated

The luxury sedan keeps its existing engine and price while gaining new features and safety technology.

BMW has launched the updated 5 Series LWB in India with several new features. The sedan continues to cost Rs 73.35 lakh (ex-showroom), with no change in pricing.

The 5 Series LWB sits between the BMW 3 Series and 7 Series in the brand’s range. It competes with models such as the Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

BMW 5 Series LWB Gets New Panorama Glass Roof

One of the key additions is the Panorama Glassroof Sky Lounge. It features a printed design on the glass and integrated LED lights. The lighting can create different colour effects inside the cabin.

It also works with the ambient lighting system and can change according to the selected driving mode. The lighting remains visible during the day as well. The panoramic roof also allows more natural light into the cabin.

Driving Assistant Plus Added

The updated sedan now gets Driving Assistant Plus as part of its feature package. The system includes lane-change alerts, front-collision warnings and rear-collision warnings.

It also provides cross-traffic alerts and Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go. The system can maintain a preset speed and distance from the vehicle ahead.

The technology can detect stationary vehicles and bring the car to a stop when required. Drivers can operate these functions through controls mounted on the steering wheel.

BMW 5 Series LWB Engine Remains Unchanged

The sedan continues with its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. It is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and rear-wheel drive. The engine produces 258 PS and 400 Nm of torque.

It comes with a Steptronic automatic transmission and can reach a top speed of 250 km/h. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. The mild-hybrid system adds up to 8.5 kW, or 11 hp, and 25 Nm of torque.

Cabin Gets Premium Features

Inside, the 5 Series LWB gets dual-tone upholstery and ergonomically designed seats. The seats use vegan materials, while the dashboard features a wood finish and ambient lighting.

The dashboard also gets BMW’s Interaction Bar. The centre console has a glass finish and includes several controls for various cabin functions. The longer wheelbase provides additional rear legroom. This remains an important part of the sedan’s focus on rear-seat comfort.

BMW 5 Series LWB Feature List

The sedan also comes with four-zone automatic climate control. Other features include BMW Live Cockpit Plus with a dual-screen infotainment setup and Digital Key Plus.

BMW ConnectedDrive is also available. Wireless charging is provided for both front and rear occupants. The premium audio system uses 18 speakers and produces 655 watts. Front ventilated seats are also available for added comfort during longer journeys.

The updated BMW 5 Series LWB therefore retains its existing mechanical package while adding new equipment. Its price remains unchanged at Rs 73.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
