Volkswagen has unveiled its all-electric ID. Tiguan for Europe, with a market launch planned for early 2027 and two battery options.

Volkswagen has revealed the all-electric ID. Tiguan, an SUV that will join the company’s electric vehicle line-up in Europe in early 2027. The new model will offer a claimed WLTP driving range of up to 600 km, depending on the battery and drivetrain configuration.

The electric SUV will sit alongside Volkswagen’s existing Tiguan petrol, diesel and hybrid models. It is also set to replace the ID.4 and ID.5 in the company’s electric line-up.

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan: Design

The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan is built on the MEB+ platform and follows the company’s Pure Positive design language. Its styling takes a more traditional SUV approach than the crossover-inspired shapes of the ID.4 and ID.5.

At the front, the SUV features LED headlamps, connected daytime running lights and an illuminated Volkswagen badge. A black trim panel links these elements, while the bumper includes side air curtains, lower-mounted fog lamps and a trapezoidal central intake.

Black cladding around the wheel arches and lower body adds to its SUV appearance. The side profile features pull-type door handles and aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels. At the rear, wraparound LED tail-lamps sit on either side of an illuminated Volkswagen badge. The electric SUV offers 534 litres of boot space and an additional 32-litre front storage compartment.

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan: Battery and Drivetrain

Volkswagen will offer the ID. Tiguan with two battery options: 58 kWh and 77 kWh. The smaller battery is paired with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 190 hp.

The larger 77 kWh battery will be available with two drivetrain options. The rear-wheel-drive version produces 286 hp, while the all-wheel-drive variant delivers 299 hp.

Volkswagen claims a maximum WLTP range of 600 km for the model line-up. However, the company has not announced separate range figures for each battery and drivetrain combination. The maximum range figure may therefore vary depending on the version selected.

The ID. Tiguan will also have a maximum towing capacity of two tonnes. Volkswagen has not yet disclosed its charging speeds or charging times.

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan: Interior and Features

The cabin features a layered dashboard with a 15-inch central infotainment display, a 10-inch driver’s screen and a 12-inch passenger display. Volkswagen has also retained physical buttons for climate controls, alongside a two-spoke steering wheel with physical controls.

Depending on the trim level, equipment will include powered front seats with memory settings, ventilation and massage functions. Other available features will include a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging and connected-car services.

The electric SUV will also offer driver-assistance systems and vehicle-to-load functionality, which allows the vehicle’s battery to supply power to compatible external devices.

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan: Trims and Launch Timeline

Volkswagen will offer the ID. Tiguan in four trim levels: Trend, Life, Style and R-Line. Equipment and features will vary depending on the selected version.

The company plans to launch the electric SUV in Europe in early 2027. Pricing has not been announced, and Volkswagen has not confirmed whether the model will be introduced in other markets, including India.

For Indian buyers, the launch timeline, pricing and market availability remain key details to watch. Volkswagen is yet to provide further information on these aspects.
