Jaguar has officially revealed the Type 01, its first production electric GT and the most powerful Jaguar yet, with a claimed 720 km WLTP range.
Jaguar has officially unveiled the Type 01 as its first production electric GT. The new model produces 1,015 hp and uses a 120 kWh NMC battery. Jaguar claims a driving range of up to 720 km under the WLTP cycle.
The Type 01 is based closely on the Type 00 concept. It also introduces a new design direction for Jaguar, with sharp surfaces and the brand’s new “exuberant modernism” design language.
Jaguar Type 01 Design
The Type 01 carries several design elements first seen on the Type 00 concept. A large “strikethrough” design element dominates the front section and gives the car a distinctive appearance.
Four line-shaped daytime running lights sit above the main headlamps. Jaguar says the Type 01 gets its slimmest headlights yet. Active shutters below the front section help manage cooling.
Despite its upright front design, the Type 01 has a claimed drag coefficient of 0.23. Active aerodynamic elements and smooth body surfaces help improve airflow around the car.
The traditional leaping Jaguar mascot is no longer placed on the bonnet. Instead, Jaguar uses the symbol on brass-like panels positioned on the front fenders. The Type 01 has a 3.2-metre wheelbase and rides on large 23-inch wheels. Its roof height is only 1,400 mm. The design required Jaguar to use a split battery layout rather than a conventional single battery pack.
The battery is divided into five modules. One module is positioned in the long section between the front axle and the A-pillar. Jaguar says this layout required changes to the front crash structure.
At the rear, the strikethrough design continues across the tail. The car does not have a conventional rear windscreen. Instead, a camera provides the view for a digital rear-view mirror. An active rear spoiler can move through three positions to help manage aerodynamic performance. The boot provides 450 litres of storage space.
Jaguar Type 01 Interior
The Type 01 continues the design-focused approach inside the cabin. The low roof and small rear windows make the rear seats more limited than the front seats.
The split battery arrangement also affects rear-seat space. Rear passengers sit in a relatively knees-up position, while the low roof further limits headroom.

At the front, the driver gets a low seating position. The cabin is divided into four sections by a central spine that also provides storage space. A single 24-inch display combines the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Driver information is positioned on the right side, while passenger functions are placed on the left.
Jaguar has kept physical controls to a minimum. A central touchscreen handles climate functions and is positioned within easier reach of the occupants.
Jaguar Type 01 Performance
The Type 01 uses a three-motor electric powertrain. Two motors are mounted at the rear, while one motor powers the front axle. The system produces 1,030 hp and 1,365 Nm of torque. The car weighs around 2.7 tonnes, but Jaguar claims a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 3.2 seconds.
Jaguar also quotes a 100-180 kmph acceleration time of 4.0 seconds. These figures place the Type 01 among the brand’s highest-performance production models.
Battery, Range and Charging
The Jaguar Type 01 uses a 120 kWh NMC battery, with 118 kWh available for use. Jaguar claims a maximum WLTP range of up to 720 km. The electric GT uses an 850-volt electrical architecture. With a 350 kW DC charger, Jaguar says the car can add up to 321 km of range in 13 minutes.
A 10-80 per cent charging session takes around 22 minutes, according to the company. The Type 01 also gets charging ports on both sides of the car.
What the Jaguar Type 01 Means for the Brand
The Type 01 represents a major change in Jaguar’s product direction. It combines an electric powertrain with a design that remains closely linked to the Type 00 concept.
For Indian readers, the model is also notable for its long claimed range, high power output and fast charging technology. However, the information provided does not include India launch details, pricing or availability.
Jaguar has now officially revealed the production Type 01, with its specifications focused on high performance, long range and a new design identity for the brand.
