Royal Enfield has launched the Himalayan 440 in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.29 lakh. The new adventure tourer sits below the Himalayan 450 and marks 10 years of the Himalayan nameplate. Bookings opened on September 4 through Royal Enfield dealerships and its website.
The Himalayan 440 keeps a design similar to the Himalayan 411. It gets a larger 443cc engine and an updated frame. The motorcycle is aimed at riders who want a simpler adventure tourer for daily use, touring and varied road conditions.
The first units will carry a special 10-year anniversary badge on the fuel tank. The motorcycle is available in Sela Black, Mustang Brown and Nelong White.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 440: Engine and Hardware
The Himalayan 440 uses a 443cc single-cylinder, long-stroke engine. It produces 25.4 bhp at 6,250rpm and 34Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
Royal Enfield has also made changes to improve engine refinement. These changes are aimed at reducing noise, vibration and harshness levels.
The motorcycle uses a half-duplex split-cradle frame. It gets 41mm telescopic front forks with 200mm of travel. At the rear, a linkage-type monoshock offers 180mm of travel.
The Himalayan 440 rides on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels. This wheel setup is suited to uneven roads and trail riding. The motorcycle has 220mm of ground clearance and an 800mm seat height.
Braking duties are handled by a 300mm front disc with a two-piston floating caliper. The rear gets a 240mm disc. Dual-channel ABS is standard and can be switched off for riding on loose surfaces.
Features and Touring Equipment
The Himalayan 440 gets a new LED headlamp and a digital-analogue instrument cluster. It also comes with Tripper navigation and a USB Type-C charging port.
A 15-litre fuel tank supports the motorcycle’s touring focus. Royal Enfield has also revised its luggage-carrying capability for longer rides.
Owners can choose from several accessories for the Himalayan 440. These include hard panniers, a top box, touring seats, handguards, engine guards, sliders and tapered mirrors.

The accessory range allows riders to set up the motorcycle for commuting, weekend rides or longer trips.
Himalayan Nameplate Completes 10 Years
The Himalayan nameplate first appeared in 2016 with a purpose-built adventure motorcycle. It gained a following among touring and adventure-riding communities for its upright riding position and simple mechanical package.
The new Himalayan 440 continues that approach with a larger engine, six-speed gearbox and updated hardware. Bookings are now open, while the motorcycle is positioned as a more accessible option below the Himalayan 450.
