Xiaomi has launched four new extended-range SUVs, with prices starting at RMB 209,900 in China.
Xiaomi has launched its new SkyNomad SUV range with four extended-range electric models. The lineup includes the five-seat N70 Pro and N70 Max, along with the seven-seat N90 Max and N90 Max Studio.
Prices start at RMB 209,900, which is around Rs 30 lakh. The range goes up to RMB 299,900, or about Rs 42 lakh, for the N90 Max Studio. The top model also comes with a pop-up camping roof.
The SkyNomad is an extended-range electric vehicle, or EREV. It uses electric motors for propulsion, while a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine works as a generator. The engine supplies electricity to the battery and motors when required.
Xiaomi SkyNomad N70, N90: Design And Exterior
The SkyNomad range uses an upright body and long wheelbases. Xiaomi says this layout helps create more space inside the cabin. The larger N90 Max measures 5,285 mm long, 1,998 mm wide and 1,825 mm tall. It has a 3,080 mm wheelbase.
The N70 Max measures 4,960 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width and 1,765 mm in height. Its wheelbase measures 2,950 mm. Xiaomi says the design combines SUV styling with the cabin space usually found in MPVs.
The SUVs use more than 140 aerodynamic measures. These include an active grille. The design helps the range achieve a drag coefficient of 0.255.
The front and rear lighting units are placed at similar heights. Rounded-rectangle shapes are used across the headlights, taillights, door handles and side cameras.
The SkyNomad also gets touch and voice-operated electric doors. Its rear doors can open nearly 90 degrees. An AI-powered anti-collision door system is also available. Privacy curtains are provided for the second and third rows. Buyers can also choose an electric side step for easier entry and exit.
Xiaomi SkyNomad N70, N90: Interior And Features
The N70 Max cabin focuses on space and everyday use. It gets a wide centre console, a two-spoke steering wheel and hidden air vents. There is also a 27W accessory charging port.
Many high-touch areas use soft-wrapped materials. Xiaomi says the cabin materials have OEKO-TEX certification for material safety. The seats use a 12-layer construction.
The front seats offer massage, ventilation and heating. Depending on the variant, the SUV can have up to four zero-gravity seats.
Xiaomi says the cabin provides 2,760 mm of occupant space. Second-row legroom can reach 1.55 metres. Cargo space can expand to 1,831 litres.
The available space is designed to support family travel. Xiaomi says the cargo area can hold seven 20-inch suitcases while retaining seating for seven passengers.
Xiaomi SkyNomad N70, N90: Battery And Range
All SkyNomad variants use a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine as a range extender. The engine does not directly drive the wheels. Electric motors handle propulsion.
The N70 Pro uses a single electric motor with front-wheel drive. It has a 52 kWh LFP battery and produces 210 kW of power. Its electric-only range is rated at 351 km under the CLTC test cycle. Its combined range reaches 1,351 km. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.
The N70 Max uses two electric motors and all-wheel drive. It has a 76 kWh battery and offers 505 km of electric range.
Its combined range is rated at 1,461 km. The N70 Max can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. The N90 Max and N90 Max Studio also use dual motors and all-wheel drive. Both versions produce 310 kW and use a 79 kWh battery.
The two N90 models offer 464 km of electric range. Their combined range goes up to 1,705 km, making it the highest figure in the SkyNomad lineup.
Xiaomi SkyNomad: Technology And Driver Assistance
All SkyNomad variants use NVIDIA’s Thor assisted-driving chip. They also get LiDAR and radar systems for driver assistance functions. Inside, the SUVs feature a 16.1-inch 3K touchscreen. An 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster is also included.
The advanced driver assistance system supports voice-activated driving assistance. It also supports automatic lane changes and navigation guidance.
Xiaomi says the navigation system can provide route guidance down to parking-space level. These features are designed to support driving and parking tasks.
