BE 6 SPORTEQ Becomes the New BE 6

Mahindra Electric says the SPORTEQ range will define the BE 6 line-up, with new technology and BaaS options.

Mahindra Electric has introduced the refreshed BE 6 SPORTEQ range in India. The company has also confirmed that SPORTEQ will become the new BE 6 series going forward.

Reeti Nageshri, Head of Business at Mahindra Electric, discussed the new range with NDTV AutoMate. She also spoke about customer feedback, EV sales, Battery-as-a-Service and connected technology.

BE 6 SPORTEQ Becomes the New BE 6

Mahindra launched the BE 6 SPORTEQ range on August 15, 2026. Prices start at Rs 19.45 lakh, ex-showroom, while the BaaS option starts at Rs 11.45 lakh plus Rs 3.75 per kilometre.

Nageshri confirmed that the SPORTEQ range will now define the BE 6 family. She said the Freedom Edition and Launch Edition will also sit under the SPORTEQ series.

The BE 6 has built its position around its futuristic design and claimed real-world range. Mahindra is now adding more technology and customer-focused features to the updated range.

Mahindra Electric Crosses 80,000 EV Sales

Mahindra Electric has sold more than 80,000 electric vehicles, according to Nageshri. She also said the company currently holds the No. 1 position in EV revenue market share.

The company ranks second in overall EV volume market share, despite operating mainly in a higher price range. Mahindra also reported 77 per cent quarter-on-quarter growth in its latest reported quarter.

Nageshri said BE 6 customers have been happy with the vehicle’s range. She noted that customers have been getting more than 500 km of real-world range.

Battery-as-a-Service Lowers the Entry Price

The new SPORTEQ range also brings Mahindra’s Battery-as-a-Service ownership model. This option reduces the initial price buyers pay for the vehicle.

Under the BaaS model, customers pay a separate charge based on vehicle usage. Nageshri described the system as a financing option that also suits customers who are comfortable with subscription-based services.

The BaaS programme is currently available on select variants. Mahindra may evaluate the model for a wider range of vehicles, according to Nageshri.

Customer Feedback Adds New Features

Mahindra says feedback from owners and enthusiasts helped shape the SPORTEQ update. One of the key requests from customers was for a third display inside the cabin.

Higher variants of the updated BE 6 now get a triple-screen dashboard. Buyers can also choose versions that retain the earlier dual-screen setup. The cabin receives new interior themes as well. These include the Racing Tan finish, which gives buyers another interior option.

Triple-Screen Cabin and More Personalisation

The updated BE 6 SPORTEQ range offers different cabin layouts. Higher variants receive a dedicated passenger display and an expanded halo-loop cabin design.

Mahindra has also added enhanced digital features to the cabin. The Freedom Edition continues with the twin-screen arrangement for buyers who prefer that layout.

Another new feature is customisable tailgate messaging. Called “Texting” by Mahindra, it allows owners to display personalised messages through the vehicle’s rear lighting signature.

Google Gemini Comes to the BE 6

The BE 6 SPORTEQ also brings Google Gemini integration to the cabin. Mahindra says the system allows users to interact using more natural language.

Nageshri explained that conventional voice assistants often need specific commands or trigger phrases. Google Gemini, she said, can understand normal conversation and context.

The feature adds another connected technology option to the BE 6. It is part of Mahindra’s wider focus on digital experiences inside its electric vehicles.

Mahindra Hints at Future V2X Technology

The discussion also covered Vehicle-to-Everything, or V2X, technology. This system allows vehicles to communicate with other vehicles, infrastructure and connected systems.

The BE 6 uses a Qualcomm-powered architecture. NDTV AutoMate asked whether the top-end version is already prepared for future V2X use. Nageshri did not confirm the technology. Instead, she responded, “Let’s keep that as a suspense.”

For now, Mahindra has not provided further details about V2X availability on the BE 6. The company has confirmed the current SPORTEQ features and its new ownership options.

What the New BE 6 SPORTEQ Offers

The refreshed BE 6 focuses on technology, cabin choice and ownership flexibility. Its key updates include the triple-screen layout, new interior themes and personalised tailgate messaging.

The range also adds Google Gemini integration and the BaaS ownership model. At the same time, Mahindra continues to offer versions with the familiar dual-screen cabin.

With SPORTEQ now becoming the BE 6 series standard, Mahindra has set a new direction for its electric SUV range. The company will continue with the updated model and its new technology features in the Indian market.
