Subheadline: The new open-top plug-in hybrid supercar retains the Coupe’s power output and features a removable roof, active aerodynamics and three electric motors.
Aston Martin has revealed the Valhalla Spider, its fastest open-top production car yet. The plug-in hybrid supercar produces 1,064 hp and can reach an electronically limited top speed of 350 kmph with the appropriate hard-top configuration. The model is scheduled to make its debut at the Concours at Wynn in Las Vegas.
Aston Martin Valhalla Spider: Powertrain
The Valhalla Spider uses a 4.0-litre flat-plane-crank, twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The petrol engine produces 816 hp and 868 Nm of torque, delivering 204 hp per litre. Aston Martin says this is the highest specific output of any combustion engine it has developed.
Three electric motors and a 6.1 kWh battery add another 247 hp. Together, the powertrain produces 1,064 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque. Two electric motors drive the front wheels and provide electric torque vectoring, while the third motor works with the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox at the rear. The front and rear axles have no mechanical connection, and the electric motors also provide reverse drive.
Aston Martin Valhalla Spider: Top Speed
The Valhalla Spider comes with a removable black fabric roof as standard. However, its maximum speed is limited to 200 kmph when this roof is fitted. An optional carbon-fibre hard-top allows the car to reach 350 kmph, while the hard-top is standard in the US market.
Aston Martin has also developed a clip-in wind deflector for open-top driving at high speeds. It directs airflow over the occupants towards the redesigned roof-mounted scoop. When the fabric roof is fitted, the deflector folds into three sections and can be stored in new 15-litre compartments built into the side sills.
The car also features revised active aerodynamics for roof-on and roof-off driving. In Race mode, the rear wing rises by 255 mm and works with a concealed front wing. Aston Martin claims the car generates more than 600 kg of downforce with the roof fitted.
Aston Martin Valhalla Spider: Hardware
The Valhalla Spider uses a carbon-fibre tub developed by Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the consulting arm of the company’s Formula 1 operation. Its upper and lower sections use resin transfer moulding and autoclave processes derived from Formula 1 engineering. Aluminium subframes support the front and rear sections.

The suspension setup includes pushrod double-wishbones at the front and adaptive Bilstein dampers. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard, with 410 mm discs at the front and 390 mm discs at the rear.
The supercar measures 4,728 mm in length, 2,208 mm in width and 1,233 mm in height. It has a 2,760 mm wheelbase and rides on 20-inch forged front wheels and 21-inch forged rear wheels. Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tyres have been developed specifically for the car.
Aston Martin Valhalla Spider: Interior
Inside, the Valhalla Spider comes with carbon-fibre Touring seats designed to offer comfort and easier entry when the roof is fitted. Buyers can also choose the Coupe’s carbon-fibre seats at no extra cost for greater lateral support during cornering.
The cabin features a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay. Other equipment includes a digital rearview mirror and Alcantara trim. A Bowers & Wilkins audio system is available as an option.
Safety and driver assistance features include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, lane-keeping assist and driver monitoring.
Aston Martin’s Q personalisation division offers tinted carbon-fibre finishes in Podium Green, Teal and Bronze. Buyers can also choose custom liveries and interior material combinations. Ten liveries are available, including five exclusive to the hard-top version.
The Valhalla Spider combines a high-output hybrid powertrain with open-top driving and advanced aerodynamic systems. Its planned debut at the Concours at Wynn in Las Vegas is the next stated milestone for the new supercar.
