The plug-in hybrid system also uses a 148 kW electric motor. MG claims a combined driving range of 1,100 km with a full battery charge and a full fuel tank. The SUV is said to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in around nine seconds.
The powertrain offers four driving modes: Pure Electric Drive, Series Hybrid Drive, Parallel Hybrid Drive and Engine Direct Drive. These modes manage how the petrol engine and electric motor deliver power under different driving conditions.
What the Launch Means for Indian Buyers
The Hector Tomahawk PHEV gives buyers a plug-in hybrid option alongside the fully electric version. Its claimed electric-only range of more than 115 km allows for electric driving without relying on the petrol engine for every journey.
The BaaS option also separates the starting vehicle price from battery usage costs. Buyers comparing the PHEV and electric versions should consider the applicable battery subscription, charging needs and total ownership costs before making a decision. The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV starts at Rs 21.79 lakh with BaaS, while the non-BaaS version starts at Rs 25.69 lakh, both ex-showroom.
