Hyundai has opened bookings for the upcoming Bayon SUV with a token amount of Rs 11,000.
Hyundai Motor India has opened bookings for the upcoming Bayon SUV in India. Bookings are available through Hyundai’s official website and dealerships across the country.
The Bayon is expected to launch during the festive season. The SUV will also feature an in-built generative AI voice assistant for in-car functions.
Hyundai Bayon dimensions revealed
The Hyundai Bayon measures around 4.2 metres in length. This places the SUV between the Creta and Venue in terms of overall size. Hyundai says the Bayon has been designed to offer a practical road-friendly footprint. The company also highlights generous legroom, headroom and shoulder room for passengers.
Hyundai Bayon engine details
The Bayon will debut with Hyundai’s 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This four-cylinder engine produces 113 hp and 144 Nm of torque.
The engine will be available with two transmission options. These include a six-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission, or IVT.
The same engine is already used in models such as the Hyundai Creta. Hyundai has not confirmed additional powertrain details for the Bayon at this stage.
CNG and turbo-petrol options
A factory-fitted CNG version is expected to join the Bayon range. If introduced, it would make the Bayon Hyundai’s first SUV in this size category with a CNG powertrain. A turbo-petrol engine could also be added later. However, Hyundai has not yet confirmed the specifications or launch details of this powertrain.
Hyundai Bayon platform and safety
The upcoming SUV is based on Hyundai’s Global K Enhanced platform. The company says the platform has been developed with its targeted five-star safety standards for India in mind.

Hyundai has also highlighted occupant protection and structural strength. The SUV will get several safety features and driver-assistance technologies. The complete safety package will be announced closer to the vehicle’s launch.
Hyundai Bayon design details
The Bayon follows an SUV-focused design with several distinctive styling elements. These include a sculpted bonnet, H-shaped LED daytime running lights and geometric wheel arches. The SUV also gets door cladding and roof rails. Hyundai says the front, side and rear sections follow a single design theme.
Hyundai Bayon expected price in India
The Hyundai Bayon is expected to be priced between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 17 lakh, ex-showroom. The final price will depend on the variant, powertrain and feature package. The expected price range would place the Bayon among several compact and mid-size SUVs in India’s market.
Hyundai’s electric vehicle plans
Hyundai Motor India is also expanding its electric vehicle support network. Tarun Garg, MD and CEO of HMIL, said the company is expanding EV chargers and EV-ready sales and service touchpoints.
HMIL currently has more than 2,600 trained dealership service personnel for EV maintenance and repairs across its EV service touchpoints. Hyundai India’s current EV portfolio includes the Ioniq 5 and Creta Electric. The company is expected to reveal more details about the Bayon’s variants, features and safety package closer to its launch.
