Veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has backed Saransh Jain before his Test debut against Sri Lanka. Jadeja told Jain to stay confident and avoid taking extra pressure as he prepared for his first Test match.
Jain made his Test debut in the second match of India’s two-Test series against Sri Lanka. The 33-year-old spin bowling all-rounder became the 320th player to represent India in Test cricket.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video featuring Jadeja’s message to Jain. Jadeja congratulated the new Test player and praised his long career in domestic cricket.
“Test cap No. 320, Saransh, well done,” Jadeja said in the video. He also pointed to Jain’s work over many years in the Ranji Trophy and for India A.
Jadeja said the Test debut was an important opportunity in Jain’s life. He also reminded him that playing for India is a dream for every cricketer.
“As a cricketer, everyone has a dream to represent India and become a Test player,” Jadeja said. He asked Jain to enjoy the moment and not take pressure.

Jadeja also advised Jain to play in the same way he had played in domestic cricket. He assured the debutant that the whole Indian team would support him.
Jain received his Test cap from Jadeja after replacing Kuldeep Yadav in the team. He thanked God and his family, and said he would first share the news with his father.
Jain also praised Jadeja and called him a legend of the game. He said receiving the Test cap from Jadeja would benefit him and provide extra motivation.
The debut is a major moment for Jain after years of domestic cricket. Jadeja’s message also highlights the support senior players can give to cricketers entering international cricket.
Jain will now look to build on his domestic experience at the Test level. His debut gives him the chance to begin his India career on the international stage.
