The new budget 5G phone brings a 120Hz display, Dimensity 6300 chip and 6,000mAh battery.
Redmi has confirmed that the Redmi 17C 5G will launch in India on October 1. The phone will retain the same design and specifications as the global model, which has already launched in Singapore.
Redmi 17C India Launch Details
The Redmi 17C 5G will debut in India on October 1. Redmi has not yet revealed its Indian price or confirmed the storage and RAM variants for the market.
In Singapore, the phone is priced at SGD 279 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage version. Xiaomi also lists a 4GB + 64GB variant in the market.
The phone will follow the Redmi 15C 5G, which arrived in India in December 2025. The Redmi 15C started at Rs 12,499 for its 4GB + 128GB version at launch.
Redmi 17C Design And Display
The Redmi 17C features a large flat rear panel with rounded corners. It has a raised rectangular camera module at the top-left corner. The camera island houses a 50MP primary camera and an LED flash. A second circular element sits below the main camera.
The phone is shown in Dark Night, Coffee Brew and Purple Dawn finishes. The Coffee Brew version has a textured, leather-like finish, while the other two use a smoother design. The Redmi 17C gets a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display. It has a 1600×720 resolution and supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The display can reach 810 nits brightness and supports up to 240Hz touch sampling. It also gets DC dimming, Reading mode and TÜV Rheinland eye-comfort certifications. The phone also supports Wet Touch Technology 2.0. This feature allows the screen to register touches with damp, oily or soapy fingers.
Redmi 17C Processor And Software
The Redmi 17C 5G uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. It is paired with 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. The phone runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3. This is an update over the Android 15-based HyperOS 2 software used by the Redmi 15C.

The global Redmi 17C is listed with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. By comparison, the Indian Redmi 15C was available with up to 8GB RAM.
Redmi 17C Cameras And Battery
The phone gets a 50MP f/1.8 rear camera and an 8MP front camera. Both cameras support 1080p and 720p video recording at 30 frames per second.
Power comes from a 6,000mAh battery with support for 33W charging. Xiaomi claims the battery can retain at least 80 percent of its capacity after 1,000 full charge cycles.
Other features include IP64 protection, a 3.5mm headphone jack and FM radio. The phone also supports NFC, Bluetooth 5.4 and USB Type-C connectivity. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is included. Xiaomi also claims a 200 percent volume boost for the phone’s audio output.
Redmi 17C Vs Redmi 15C
The Redmi 17C and Redmi 15C share several core specifications. Both use the Dimensity 6300 chipset, a 6.9-inch HD+ 120Hz display and 50MP rear and 8MP front cameras.
Both phones also have a 6,000mAh battery with 33W charging. The Redmi 17C moves to Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and adds features such as Wet Touch Technology 2.0 and Bluetooth 5.4.
However, the available RAM could be an important difference. The Indian Redmi 15C was offered with up to 8GB RAM, while the global Redmi 17C is listed with 4GB RAM.
This means there is no major performance change in the core hardware based on the supplied specifications. The higher-memory Redmi 15C variants could remain relevant if the new phone launches at a substantially higher price.
Redmi 17C Expected Price In India
The Singapore price of SGD 279 converts to around Rs 21,000 for the 4GB + 128GB version. This is close to the current Indian price of the 8GB + 128GB Redmi 15C, according to the supplied information. However, Redmi has not announced the Indian price yet. The final price and available configurations will be confirmed at the India launch.
The Redmi 17C will therefore enter a segment where its pricing will be important. Its newer software and added features will need to be considered alongside its largely unchanged core hardware compared with the Redmi 15C.
